2nd at Emporia
Four teams competed at Emporia.
Matt Coleman and Eric Robinson claimed second place in the field of 34 teams. They earned the first seed in the tournament with a 6-0 prelim record. They claimed elim wins over Concordia, Kansas, and Kansas State before losing to Central Oklahoma in the finals. Matt Coleman was the top speaker in the field. Eric Robinson was 3rd.
Patrick Rinker and Brian Box qualified for the elim rounds with a 5-1 prelim record. They beat Oklahoma in the octafinals before losing to KSU in the quarterfinals. Patrick Rinker was the 20th speaker in the field.
Matt Munday and Creighton Coleman posted a 3-3 preliminary record and just missed qualifying for the elimination rounds. They were the 18th seed, but only 17 teams qualified for the elimination debates.
In the junior division, Franklin Katschke and Adam Courtelyou earned a spot in the elimination rounds with a 4-2 prelim record. They earned a bye in the octafinals, a win over UTSA in the quarterfinals, but fell 2-1 to Minnesota in the semifinals. Katschke was the 7th speaker in the division. Courelyou was 9th.
