2012 High School Debate Workshop

Wichita State Debate is proud to host the 16th annual summer workshop for high school debaters. We have made several changes for this summer designed to make the workshop better than ever. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Dates: July 22 - 28, 2012
Cost: $25 (plus $200 for on-campus housing)
Deadline: June 15. Late registrations accepted on a space-available basis.

Dorms

The workshop has space on 4 North in Fairmount Towers on the campus of Wichita State. The $200 fee includes a double occupancy room, without linens, and meals from dinner on Sunday, July 22 through brunch on Saturday, July 28. Single rooms and linens are available, but with an additional cost. Housing costs must be paid by July 1. Roommate requests will be collected at that time.

Schedule

The full schedule will be available early in the summer. The basics include:

Sunday: Check-in in the late afternoon. Dinner. Dorm rules meeting. Demonstration debate.
Monday - Friday: Breakfast. Workshop from 8:30 - 12:00. Lunch. Workshop from 1:30 - 5:00. Dinner. Evening events for dorm residents.
Saturday: Check-out in the morning. Brunch available.

Staff

The workshop is directed by Dr. Jeffrey Jarman, director of debate at Wichita State. He will be assisted by various WSU debaters and alums. Every staff member has experience coaching high school debaters. A full list of the staff is available here.
